Public transport in Vienna

Vienna has one of the best (if not, the best) public transportation systems in the world. Thanks to the Wiener Linien and the municipality of Vienna, it is possible to buy a “Semesterticket” for 75€ for your Erasmus stay (a whole semester!). If you live outside of Vienna, you will have to pay 150€, which then includes also the regional trains outside of Vienna. 
The documents needed for this tickets are:

  • Students card (provided by the university)
  • Meldezettel (proof of registration in your district. Ask your buddy about it!)
  • Passport or identity card
  • 75€ in cash or in your bank account

 

This ticket can be used for regional trains WITHIN Vienna, metro, tramway and buses. During our Info Day in the welcome weeks, we will tell you more about it. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your buddy or your ESN team!
